Read <a href="https://reddit.com/r/getdisciplined/comments/1q96b5/i_just_dont_care_about_myself/cdah4af/" target="_blank">No Zero Days</a> if you haven't already. It's too good!
<!--TODO: Flesh out connection to Atomic Habits. They are similar because they are both trying to get you to do things that are healthy for you, to do a favor for your future self. They are both about doing _something_ every day. _They are also all about doing things incrementally, bit by bit. Success doesn't happen all at once, you just get over the threshold all at once. But the buildup is there, bit by bit. There's a link here to snowballing too. There's also a link to materials science, water to ice, which I think is from Atomic Habits._ Both No Zero Days and Atomic Habits are also about _doing_ things, and not worrying about whether or not they are good enough. This gets around the inherent lack of trust in ourselves, and gets us to take action and do something despite our lack of trust in ourself. This is an excellent example of why goals don't help, only processes do.
There is also a link between these two things and discomfort. Being uncomfortable pushes you to do things, and makes me happier because I can see the small things in the world that make me happy. I notice things, and I am more present and mindful, when I am uncomfortable.

Why is it so good? Ryan says *I get what you're going through. You're not alone, I've been there and I care about you and I believe in you. You can do the things I'm saying because I've done them and they worked for me, and you're no different than me.* Saying "I believe in you" and doing something to demonstrate to the other person that you really do believe in them (like writing this big long reddit post) is one of the most empowering things you can do for someone.
