This one is critical, and I don't fully have my head wrapped around it. But it's one of the foundations. We all have scarcity mindsets and abundance mindsets in different parts of our lives, and we transition from scarcity to abundance throughout our lives, and usually we are taught scarcity from the people around us or from our environment. Scarcity mindsets are things like: * I need to eat everything on my plate because there won't be more tomorrow. * I need to hoard my money, otherwise there won't be enough later in life. * I will never find another partner who likes me or is attracted to me. * I have to keep this job because I may not find another one. * I have to keep this job because I won't be good at anything else. * I need to figure this homework assignment out, otherwise I will never be able to catch back up. * If I fail this class, I will always be behind. These scarcity mindsets are all based on the idea that resources are scarce. But the resources are only scarce until you have the means to acquire them! We transition from the scarcity mindset to the abundance mindset as we gain the skills we need to acquire the scarce resource. This is what it's all about, and this is the generalization of so many things in our world. Let's transition those to abundance mindsets: * It's okay if I don't eat everything on my plate, I will return the nutrients it to the ground and let them grow again. Tomorrow I will have more food, and the year after. * I can spend my money wisely and enjoy it, because there is always more if I'm willing to work for it. * There are many beautiful people in the world who I haven't met yet, and who haven't met me. If I have the skills to express myself in a true and healthy way, I will find a great partner, and maybe many of them. * I can quit my job because there are many other companies and people who value my skills and what I can bring to the table. * I can quit my job, and even if I am not qualified do something different, I can gain the skills to do so and people will trust that I want to and can. * Even if I don't understand what's going on in this homework, I can ask for additional help and people will help me get caught up. * It's okay if I fail this class, I have plenty of other opportunities to learn, and I have the skills to accelerate my life in other ways in the future. These abundance mindsets promote peace, and most of all they promote self-trust. When we trust ourselves, we know we can handle anything. And when we know we can, we can. Skills are the way we transition from scarcity to abundance. Once we prove to ourselves that we can do it, we start trusting ourselves. And once we start trusting ourselves, we gain the abundant mindset. And what's so important about the abundant mindset? It's empowering! It allows us to be courageous in the face of fear. We can disregard our scarcity mindset, even though the possibility exists, because we know we can do it. And once we are able to try, we are able to fail, and then we are able to succeed. - And then we do it again! We're back on the rollercoaster.
