When you're going about your day, visualize your best self a few seconds ahead. The time is arbitrary, what's important is that your visualizing your best self's next action. And then, as you visualize your best self doing whatever it is s/he would do, you try to catch them.
This does a few insanely powerful things. First, it pushes you to think just a little ahead and realize the thing your best self would do. This is powerful because it solidifies what the best option is.
Second, when you visualize yourself doing the thing you want to do, it forces you to visualize your success in a way that sidesteps the conversation "don't think about your fears, think about your success" in a way that sidesteps thinking about the pink elephant. (When someone says "don't think about a pink elephant" your mind immediately begins to visualize it - it's impossible not to think about something specific.)
