(Aside: if another note links to this note, it typically means the note is a work-in-progress, and I am publishing it publicly. I use the term "work in public" to mean that an idea is a work in progress, but there was no need to keep it private.)
[This is an idea from Andy Matuschak.](https://notes.andymatuschak.org/z21cgR9K3UcQ5a7yPsj2RUim3oM2TzdBByZu) There has even been a book written about the importance of working in public. It comes from philosophies about not trying to hide our imperfections.
Working in public is about understanding that everything is a work-in-progress, and nothing is ever "done". Some things are just good enough to publish.
Working in public is also about leaving room for conversations.
The idea is simple: Put your work out there for others to see, to [[Be Polarizing|judge]]. This idea is part of the inspiration for this blog.
Not everything you do has to be perfect, and the journey from incompleteness and imperfection to completion and "perfection" is worth putting out in the world. It's a scary thing to put yourself and your not-yet-satisfactory work out there to be judged, but working through things is an important part of the process that everyone goes through. We can only hope that others will not judge us negatively for our incomplete and incorrect work, but rather judge us for the things that we do fully believe in.
Rather than judge me for my incomplete work, please start a conversation.
